Engineering/Technology Courses
Grades 9-12
Introduction to Engineering Drawing and Design
This course introduces the student to the universal language of industry. The student will study the principles of drafting using various materials, instruments, and drafting tools. Drafting techniques are developed and applied to the production of working drawings. Emphasis is placed on laboratory processes to develop manual-drafting skills as well as computer-aided drafting (CAD) techniques.
Grades 10-12
Engineering Concepts and Drawings
Prerequisite: Introduction to Engineering Drawing and Design
This course introduces the student to the basic drafting skills through architectural drafting principles and techniques. This course is designed to familiarize the students with the fundamentals of quality design and the construction of residential structures. This class provides the basic information necessary for planning various types of dwellings. It presents basic instruction in preparing architectural working drawings using traditional as well as computer-based methods. This course is intended to develop the necessary technical skills to communicate architectural ideas in an understandable, efficient, and accurate manner.
Solid Modeling and Design
Prerequisite: Introduction to Engineering Drawing and Design
This course introduces the student to skills, techniques, and working conditions of professions related to the areas of engineering technology. The student will have the opportunity to be involved in problem solving processes in many different areas of technology. Some of the areas include Structural Engineering, Robotics, Laser and Satellite Communication, Computer Aided Drafting, RadioCommunications, Aerodynamics, Flight and Aviation, Computer Numerical Control, and Computer Animation. The course also prepares the student to make more meaningful career and educational decisions in choosing to continue his/her training at the secondary level or to pursue post secondary education in a technical school or college.
*An internship/co-op is also available for anyone that is concurrently taking Introduction to Engineering Drawing and Design, Engineering Concepts and Drawings, and Solid Modeling and Design.
